McLaren unveils its new single-seater: the MCL35M

The first livery to be unveiled for this 2021 Formula 1 season is none other than McLaren's. A highly anticipated livery due to the new partnership with Mercedes as the engine supplier and what it would bring visually to the car compared to the 2020 version and the Renault engine.

The 2020 livery continued the trend of previous years, featuring the historical papaya color of the original New Zealand brand as the primary color on the car, with touches of electric blue on certain parts of the livery.

This year the livery is very similar with the only difference being the addition of blue on the front nose and black on the chimney. The most surprising thing is the absence of the Mercedes logo on the car.

Technically, the nose tapers earlier, giving the front a more aggressive look, also due to the addition of small aerodynamic elements on it. But overall, the MCL35M and its predecessor are very similar, although this is expected to change from Bahrain onwards with the introduction of the first improvements.

The suits have a much busier look with the new sponsors the team has signed. We can also notice the addition of rainbow colors on the legs, which evoke the WeRaceAsOne movement launched by Liberty Media celebrating diversity.

As its name suggests, the MCL35M is an evolution of the previous car and not a revolution. The objective will be to do even better than in 2021 by establishing itself more often as the best of the rest and, if possible, fighting more frequently with the top teams.
