After two seasons of a successful collaboration, Brazilian Pietro Fittipaldi, grandson of the illustrious two-time world champion Emerson Fittipaldi, will continue his journey with Haas F1 Team as a reserve driver for the 2021 season.

The young driver notably replaced Romain Grosjean during the last two Grand Prix of the season in Sakhir and Abu Dhabi, following the violent crash from which the French driver miraculously emerged during the Bahrain GP. His two races were judged as very conclusive by his team principal Günther Steiner who stated: « We are all satisfied that Pietro (Fittipaldi) can continue his relationship with us in 2021. The reserve driver role can bring you to the forefront with little time to prepare, and that was the case for Pietro at the end of 2020. Despite having little time to get up to speed, and without previously testing the VF-20 on track, he did a very good job for us by finishing the race each time. These experiences will help him to bring added value to the team during the upcoming season. »

The main person concerned was very grateful to the team for once again trusting him: “I am very happy to be able to start a third season with Haas F1 Team. I would like to thank Gene (Haas) and Günther (Steiner) for this opportunity. I feel like I am part of a big family here at Haas, having worked with the engineers in previous seasons. I am looking forward to the season starting in Bahrain and being able to contribute, drawing on my experience from the two Grand Prix races I have competed in for the team.”
