The adventure between Haas and Romain Grosjean continues
Although Romain Grosjean no longer drives for his former Haas F1 Team, the Frenchman remains involved in the life of the American team through his Esports team.
Victim of a very eventful transfer market and the economic impact of Covid-19 on Formula 1, Romain Grosjean had to leave Formula 1 in 2020 after possibly one of the worst seasons in terms of results for the Frenchman. With only 2 points scored last season, the former Haas driver had finished in a meager 19th position in the driver standings.
Recently announced as the new consultant for Canal+, the Franco-Swiss driver will also remain involved with Haas thanks to his Esports team, R8G Esports. In fact, the American team announced a partnership with the French structure within the framework of the F1 Esports Pro Series.
Although R8G Esports was only created in April 2020, it already has a great list of achievements with a total of 45 victories and 103 podiums spread across games like rFactor2, iRacing, GT Sport, F1 2020, and Assetto Corsa.
The role of Romain’s team will be to help Haas’ Esports division develop and achieve better results in the championship. Assistance that the American team sorely needs after a 2020 season as disappointing as on the track. Like Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean, Simon Weigang and Cedric Thome failed to lift their team beyond 9th position in the standings with only 39 points scored.
Romain Grosjean seems very excited about this new adventure: “I am very happy to manage the entry of the Uralkali Haas F1 Team this year in the F1 Esports Pro Series via R8G Esports. I have been involved in esport for a year now and I think our team is doing very well. For me, being able to help Haas F1 in this area and race together is a beautiful story. Obviously, it is a great continuation of what we have built together. So, I am very excited to participate in the first race and see what we can build together in the Esport competition.”
