Spanish Grand Prix to be held without public
The Barcelona-Catalunya circuit has put an end to the suspense surrounding the presence of fans during the Spanish Grand Prix weekend. The GP will now be held behind closed doors, due to developments in the health situation.

The managers of the Catalunya circuit announced that the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix scheduled to take place from May 7 to 9, 2021, will be held without spectators. This decision was dictated by PROCICAT (Civil Protection of Catalonia), which informed the circuit that it would not be able to organize this event in accordance with the protocol dedicated to welcoming spectators, given the health situation in the country and the restrictions in force, which will remain valid at least until April 26, 2021.
In the uncertainty of a positive improvement in the health situation and a potential relaxation of the restrictive measures regarding the mobility of both local and international spectators, the circuit management informed Formula 1 of its decision to hold the GP behind closed doors.
For fans who have already purchased their ticket for this Grand Prix, the circuit has promised to proceed with a refund as well as proportional compensation for season ticket holders.
