For the second consecutive year, the F1 paddock will not travel to the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit for the traditional Canadian Grand Prix.

Due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, the quarantine measures that Canada mandates, due to a significant increase in infection cases in the country, cannot be adhered to for the organization of such an event. The leaders have therefore decided to purely and simply cancel the Grand Prix.

Due to the current travel restrictions in Canada, it has become impossible for Formula 1 to enter the country without undergoing a mandatory two-week quarantine, the officials stated in an official statement.

Under contract with F1 until 2031, the organizers ensure that they will take the necessary steps regarding possible ticket refunds and already invite the public to future events.

We will work with the promoter to ensure that those who bought tickets for the 2020 and 2021 races can be reimbursed or transferred to next year’s race. We look forward to racing in Canada in 2022.

To replace it on June 13, the Turkish Grand Prix is making its appearance on the calendar. The rumor of this replacement had been growing for about two weeks, and the confirmation of Canada’s withdrawal was accompanied by the arrival of the Istanbul circuit.

Having resurfaced last year after 9 years of absence, Istanbul Park was notably the stage for Lewis Hamilton’s 7th coronation.
