Sergio Perez aims for victory in Monaco

After a complicated Grand Prix in Spain where Sergio Perez, distant 5th during the race, did not provide the help Verstappen could have needed to win the Grand Prix. Author of a disappointing qualifying session which saw the Mexican starting from the 8th position, the latter managed to score good points for his new team but he is still far from where he is expected.

Expectations are high for Perez and the Grand Prix winner is determined to prove to Christian Horner and Helmut Marko that they were right to sign him. In order to make up for a lukewarm start to the season, the new Red Bull driver would love to win the legendary Monaco race.

Each circuit is different, so what I learn here will be different from what I need in Monaco, but the important thing is that I adapt again and I hope to soon be at 100%. I am excited for Monaco, especially with this car which has always been competitive there, and I think we have a chance to win.

Monaco is a circuit that has historically worked well for the Mexican driver as in 2016 aboard his modest Force India he finished 3rd after a Grand Prix disrupted by rain and crucial strategic choices to ensure a good result.

If Perez were not to finish on the podium of the next race of this 2021 Formula 1 season, he must be closer to Mercedes and Verstappen in order to limit the strategic choices of the German team and help his teammate in the fight for the world championship title he is leading with Lewis Hamilton.
