Monaco Grand Prix – Key figures
Absent from the calendar last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Formula 1 returns this weekend to the streets of the Principality for the famous Monaco Grand Prix. This is an opportunity for us to look back at this very special Grand Prix through numbers.

78: This is the number of laps to be completed this Sunday on the streets of Monaco.
3.337: The very famous exact length of the Monte-Carlo circuit.
1:10.166: The time achieved by Lewis Hamilton in 2019 to secure pole position. Unsurprisingly, it is also the historical track record ever recorded.
3: As the number of drivers who have won their only victory in Monaco. In 1972, Jean-Pierre Beltoise was the first of them at the end of a magnificent race in the rain where he beat Jackie Ickx, who was renowned for these conditions.
The famous victory of Olivier Panis in 1996 is obviously still deeply rooted in everyone’s memory. A tumultuous race that remained for a long time the last victory of a French driver (before a certain “Pierre.G” took charge of erasing it from the record books 24 years later!).
Finally, Italian driver Jarno Trulli also clinched his only victory in the top category behind the wheel of the Renault in 2004.
4: The number of times Monaco has been absent from the Formula 1 calendar since the World Championship was created in 1950.
Not run in 1951, 1953, and 1954 for political reasons and conflicts with the leaders of the category, Monaco has not left the calendar since 1955, making it the second most used circuit in history behind Monza… but the coronavirus crisis put an end to this long series last year!
5: As the number of victorious drivers in Monaco present on the starting grid. Lewis Hamilton has the best statistics on this circuit with 3 victories in 2008, 2016 and 2019.
Fernando Alonso (2006, 2007) and Sebastian Vettel (2011, 2017) each have two victories in the Principality, while Kimi Räikkönen (2005) and Daniel Ricciardo (2018) complete the list of winners.
6: With 6 wins on the streets of Monaco, Ayrton Senna is obviously the driver with the most success on this circuit. He is ahead of Graham Hill and Michael Schumacher with 5 wins, his great rival Alain Prost with 4 wins, and a quartet composed of Stirling Moss, Jackie Stewart, Nico Rosberg, and Lewis Hamilton with 3 wins each.
7: In addition to the 5 drivers who have already won here, only two other drivers from the 2021 grid have had the privilege of stepping on the podium in Monaco: Sergio Pérez in 2016 and Valtteri Bottas in 2019.
18: The number of turns on the Monte-Carlo track. Each more famous than the other, they make up a unique layout that partly explains why the Monaco Grand Prix is so special and prestigious.
1: The Monaco Grand Prix was indeed the first city Grand Prix in F1 history. Since then, the trend has spread a bit, from Singapore to Baku in particular.
0: As surprising as it may seem, the hometown hero, Charles Leclerc, has never finished a Monaco Grand Prix. He will certainly be eager this year to erase this statistic and win over the fans supporting him!
750: This weekend in Monaco, the Williams team will celebrate its 750th Formula 1 Grand Prix, making it still the third most capped team behind Ferrari and McLaren.
The Monaco Grand Prix will start at 3:00 pm this Sunday. Find all the schedules to know within the TV program here.
