The adventure will have been short-lived. Less than a year after his arrival at Williams, following the sale of the team to the investment fund Dorilton Capital, Simon Roberts will no longer be the team principal following an internal restructuring. Arriving in June 2020, the Briton had played a role in the transition period after the team was sold.

« Simon played a key role in managing the transition over the past twelve months and I would like to thank him for his tremendous contribution during this period », said Jost Capito, the director of Williams Racing.

Jost Capito then takes over the title and duties of team principal as part of this restructuring, which further streamlines operations in line with long-term goals to bring Williams back to the forefront.

Also involved in this reshuffling, French engineer François-Xavier Demaison, who joined the team last March, is expected to take on the supervision of track activities and engineering.

It was a pleasure to take on the role of team principal after the departure of the Williams family. However, with the transition well underway, I look forward to taking on a new challenge and I wish everyone in the team the best for the future,” said Simon Roberts.

After financial and sporting difficulties, the Williams family had sold its legendary team to the American investment fund Dorilton Capital. Despite significant progress on the race cars, neither George Russell nor Nicholas Latifi have been able to score points this season yet.
