A superb race by George Russell
It's not just Max Verstappen who shone today. George Russell has stood out and finishes 12th in a well-controlled French Grand Prix.

The Verstappen/Hamilton duel is monopolizing all the attention. It is true that we have not experienced such a situation since 2016 and the Rosberg/Hamilton duel. However, eighteen other drivers are fighting fiercely every race weekend!
A perfect race?
That is what the young English man claims, in any case.
From the inside, it was really very difficult. But I realized the most beautiful race of my career.
By finishing in 12th place overall, he helps Williams consolidate their ninth place in the constructors’ championship. He also made superb overtakes on Esteban Ocon and Yuki Tsunoda.
He regrets, however, that there is no incident at the front of the race, which would have allowed him to score at least one point.
« It’s a shame that nothing happened at the front. Nevertheless, finishing 12th on merit is a very good result. It’s a good way to start this three-race sequence »
Is it time for him to join a top team?
After his incredible stint at Mercedes last year, we saw an eager George Russell ready to challenge the best drivers in top-of-the-line single-seaters.
Today, he once again demonstrates the full extent of his talent.
Toto Wolff, his manager but also that of Valtteri Bottas and boss of Mercedes, must make a decision quickly if he does not want to see his talent join another team.
Blocked by Hamilton at Mercedes?
We know that Lewis Hamilton is keen on Bottas remaining his deputy. A bit like Vettel wished to have Räikkönen by his side. And whatever one may think, the Hamilton/Mercedes duo remains the pair to beat.
However, English does not represent the future of F1, he is at the top of his game. A young Dutchman may cause him to falter as soon as 2021.
Should we allow the wolf into the sheepfold as early as 2022? With the additional regulations to manage?
