The layout of the Yas Marina circuit will be modified
The organizers of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix promise to modify the Yas Marina circuit in order to increase overtaking potential.

This year, the last Grand Prix of the season, in Abu Dhabi (December 10-12), is expected to take place on a partially revised track. The event organizers announced that the Yas Marina circuit is set to undergo construction work this summer, with the aim of improving the on-track spectacle.
Present on the calendar since 2009, the Yas Marina circuit offers a magnificent setting, but is heavily criticized by drivers and spectators because of the lack of excitement it provides. Every year, this Grand Prix is flavorless, and some drivers, like Daniel Ricciardo, propose to modify the layout.
« Maybe we could explore the layout – I know there are some alternatives here – because unfortunately, on Sundays, it’s complicated. Sometimes it can be a bit dull, on the entertainment side.
The Australian’s wishes should be fulfilled. The CEO of Abu Dhabi Motorsport Management admitted that he listened to spectators, fans, drivers, F1, and the FIA. Saif Al-Noaimi added that the goal was to improve the on-track racing, and for this, his team worked on some exciting changes this year at the circuit level.
The sectors of the circuit that should be modified this summer have not yet been revealed, but the new layout is expected to promote on-track duels.
The objective is naturally to create more wheel-to-wheel opportunities. We want to create more overtaking opportunities and create an overall faster and smoother circuit given the current regulations of single-seaters. We are looking forward to seeing overtaking, action, and we hope that the title will be decided here, advances Saif Al-Noaimi.
The Yas Marina track is supposed to be the second circuit to undergo a track modification this year. Earlier in the season, work was done on the Albert Park (Australia – November 18 to 21) to enhance the on-track action.
