F1 Standings: Max Verstappen secures his lead in the championship
Here is the update on the World Drivers' Championship, after the seventh round held at the Castellet circuit.
Max Verstappen is increasing his lead over Lewis Hamilton after his victory. The Dutchman is strengthening his position in the world championship, he now has 131 points compared to 119 for the Briton.
Max Verstappen’s teammate also continues to score very big points for the drivers’ and constructors’ championships. With a second consecutive podium, the Mexican increases his lead over Lando Norris by 8 points.
With his fourth place, Valtteri Bottas scores points again and moves up to fifth place in the ranking at the expense of Charles Leclerc, who had a tough Grand Prix and leaves with zero points.
After a very good race, Daniel Ricciardo also gains a position in the standings. The Honey Badger is now 9th in the championship, but remains far behind his teammate Lando Norris (4th).
