Max Verstappen calls on the FIA to strengthen checks on front wings
For Max Verstappen, the FIA should introduce controls regarding the front wings, after intervening on the rear wings at the French Grand Prix.

The battle of the aero continues. One week after officially introducing new controls regarding the rear wing, Max Verstappen calls on the FIA to do the same for the front wings.
Since the Spanish Grand Prix, Red Bull and Mercedes have been trading blows through the media regarding the legality of their wings. Initially, Lewis Hamilton accused the Milton Keynes team of using a rear wing that was too flexible, increasing straight-line speed. In response, the Austrian team hit back by attacking the (excessive) flexibility of the front wing of the Silver Arrows and asking the FIA to look into the matter.
Following these accusations, the FIA has decided to introduce, during the French GP, more thorough checks regarding the flexibility of the rear wings. However, the front wings are not included in these new inspections, a decision that tends to irritate the Red Bull team and especially Max Verstappen, who is calling for a verification of the front wings.
« I believe that when you check the rear wing, you should also check the front wing. Because I think the front wing has a bigger effect on the car. It is up to the FIA, of course, to carry out these checks. Clearly, they have done checks on the rear wing, so it is up to them to decide. », declares Max Verstappen.
Max Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio Perez believes that the choice is up to the FIA to « carry out all these checks » before expressing his agreement with Verstappen: « As Max said, I think nowadays the front wing is clearly more powerful on a Formula 1 car than the rear wing. It is up to them to decide, and they have all the information, I suppose. »
