No victory in 4 Grand Prix for Mercedes, a first since 2013
The Mercedes team is indeed in difficulty this year, second in the constructors' championship, second and fifth in the drivers' championship and especially no victory in 4 Grand Prix races, a first in the hybrid era.

Some statistics are revealing of the form of a team or a driver and this series of 4 victories for Red Bull shows the drop in form of the winning machine Mercedes. While everything is still possible in this 2021 championship, the Silver Arrows will have to react quickly if they do not want to see the Red Bull brand soar to the title.
Red Bull was the last team to have won at least 4 races in a row before the Mercedes hegemony began in 2014 with the arrival of hybrid engines. Sebastian Vettel had managed to win 9 races between the Belgian Grand Prix and the one in Brazil, allowing him at the time to secure a fourth world championship title.
Mercedes has often been challenged over the past 8 seasons, by Red Bull or Ferrari which pocketed 3 consecutive wins in 2019 (Monza – Spa – Singapore), but never had the German team, led by Toto Wolff, experienced such a drought. Given the consistency and performance of Max Verstappen’s RB16B, this winless streak could worsen this weekend.
We will especially need to pay attention to the results of Mercedes at Silverstone on July 18th, as the circuit has been a stronghold for the German team based in Brackley, England since 2013. In eight editions, Mercedes has placed one of its drivers on the top step of the podium seven times.
