Key figures of the Austrian Grand Prix
This weekend, Formula 1 cars are back at the Red Bull Ring for the 9th race of the season. On this occasion, we present you with the key figures of the Austrian Grand Prix.

71: This is the number of laps the race winner will cover on Sunday.
4,318: This is the length of the Red Bull Ring.
1:02.939: The lap record at the Austrian circuit, set by Valtteri Bottas during last year’s qualifying
2: The Austrian Grand Prix was held on two different circuits. In 1964, the Zeltweg track (located next to Spielberg) hosted the first race, before moving to Spielberg in 1970.
3: The current layout of the Red Bull Ring has had 3 different names. When it was first created, it was called the Österreichring.
In 1996, the Austrian layout is taken over by the Austrian telephone company A1. The circuit is then redesigned by Hermann Tilke and reduced from 5.942 km to 4.326.
Finally, the circuit was bought in 2005 by Dietrich Mateschitz (owner of Red Bull) and underwent major renovations to be able to host F1 races again in 2014 at the Red Bull Ring.
400: The Österreichring hosted the 400th Formula 1 Grand Prix in 1984. On August 19th, Niki Lauda won his first national Grand Prix, taking advantage of his teammate’s off-track excursion to claim victory.
