Crypto.com becomes a partner of sprint races
On Tuesday, Formula 1 announced that crypto.com would become the first global partner of sprint races, which will start on July 17th at Silverstone.
Crypto.com is set to become the first partner of F1 Sprint races. The cryptocurrency company will have its name displayed at races that will host this new weekend format.
During the British Grand Prix, which will inaugurate this new format, the drivers will compete in a 100 km race, which will then determine the starting grid for the main race. The top 3 will receive 3, 2, and 1 points respectively for the championship.
The statement released by F1 specifies that this partnership aims to increase the brand’s visibility on the international stage and offer fans the opportunity to discover the world of cryptocurrency. This partnership is also part of F1’s ambition to become carbon neutral.
Aligning with sustainability plans for F1 to be a zero-carbon sport by 2030, Crypto.com announced in May 2021 an ambitious commitment to become carbon negative within 18 months, providing the industry a path and a model for clean cryptocurrency.
« This plan will initially focus on assessing the carbon generated by cryptocurrency trading, deposit, and withdrawal activities on all its own platforms, before reevaluating how it operates across the company outside of trading. »
