Lewis Hamilton is asking that Mercedes continue the development of the W12
Lewis Hamilton wishes that his team continues developing the W12, in order to compete with Red Bull and hope for an eighth world title.

As he trails Max Verstappen by 18 points ahead of the 9th race of the season, Lewis Hamilton refuses to throw in the towel when it comes to winning his 8th world title. However, the British driver states that Mercedes will have to improve in many areas to compete with a dominant Red Bull in this early part of the season to secure his new world crown.
« I accept nothing. I think we still have many races ahead of us and we must continue to push. We are world champions and we can certainly improve if we think about it. If we don’t develop our car for the rest of the year, then this is the result you will see, because as I have already said, they (Red Bull) have had really good performances in the last races, whether in France, with the new engine or the new wing, he said.
Last Sunday, Toto Wolff had declared that Mercedes was going to halt the development of the W12 to focus on 2022. However, James Allison, the technical director of the team, denied these statements and assured that evolutions were in the pipeline for the upcoming races.
Interviewed on the subject, the reigning world champion naturally wants to have the most evolution on his Silver Arrow.
I am not going to question the team’s logic and the way it is conducting its process. As I said, give me developments, we like that, but I don’t think it is in preparation at the moment.
« We are declining in some areas. It was tight at the beginning of the season and if we (with Red Bull) both had the same performances as in the first four races, it might be a bit more exciting, but as I said, they made a good step forward. », admitted.
