Austrian Grand Prix – A very eventful race for Leclerc
12th at the start, Charles Leclerc went through many battles and mishaps to bring his car back in the points.

12th on the grid, Leclerc was disappointed not to have managed to get into Q3 with the medium tires while George Russell in his modest Williams was able to do so.
Thanks to Russell’s poor start, the Monegasque driver gained a position as the lights went out. Taking advantage of Perez’s struggles due to his collision with Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc overtook the Mexican driver at the 4th corner to take 7th position.
The tension between the two men began to boil on the 41st lap when Perez pushed the Ferrari into the gravel at the 4th turn. The same type of accident occurred six laps later but at turn number 5. Two accidents that greatly annoyed Leclerc but also led to a double penalty for Perez.
Letting his teammate Carlos Sainz pass as he had better tires, Charles Leclerc must let Daniel Ricciardo go. Facing a two-stop Pierre Gasly, the Ferrari defended itself as best as possible and managed to keep its 8th position.
« It was very frustrating in the car. There were two chances I tried to take them but there was no more room at the exit. I would probably have done the same thing if I were in their position so yes, that’s how it is. »
Always 6th in the driver’s standings, there are now only 2 points that separate him from his teammate.
