Esteban Ocon totally missed both races at the Red Bull Ring. The Frenchman was eliminated in Q1 each time and did not score any points. The Norman has not found answers to his questions about the performance differences with his teammate, Fernando Alonso.

However, at the beginning of the season, Esteban Ocon was achieving very good results with four consecutive points finishes between Imola and Monaco. However, for the past three weeks since signing his new contract, things have not been going well for the Frenchman. Despite his secured future for the next three years, the French driver claims that he is still working as hard as before.

« I am really determined to do well and to redouble my efforts as much as possible for the team. I work as much as I did at the beginning of the season, I still go to the factory as much, and I give it my all just like I did before signing the contract. It has nothing to do with our current level of performance.

However, the Alpine driver wants to put an end to this rough patch and start over at Silverstone next week. To do this, his team will change many parts on his A521.

« We see certain things, we notice a certain deficit, but it’s difficult to exactly pinpoint what it is. We will start from scratch at Silverstone, change as many parts as possible on the car, and I hope we will come back stronger. Being one second slower during the first run (in qualifying) compared to Fernando, it’s too big of a difference. There is clearly something that was not right and that we need to understand, » he explains.

For Ocon, changing as many parts on his single-seater would allow him to have one less doubt about the origin of his performance decline over the past three races.

There are still a few days to think about it, to reflect on what we can do. And yes, start from scratch as much as possible, because our performance was insufficient this weekend and last weekend,” he adds.
