Pierre Gasly affirms that some teams are interested in him
The AlphaTauri driver stated that some teams on the grid were interested in hiring him for his services, but the Frenchman points out that it is Red Bull who determines his future.
Present in Formula 1 since 2017 with Toro Rosso (former name of AlphaTauri), Pierre Gasly impressed with his talent, which led Red Bull to give him a seat in the main team in 2019. After disappointing results, the Frenchman was eventually demoted to his first team during that same season.
Since his return to Toro Rosso and then AlphaTauri, Pierre Gasly has managed to step onto the podium three times, including a magnificent victory in Italy last year. His performances have not gone unnoticed, leading some teams to express interest in the Frenchman.
« Yes, there is interest. I am doing my best, I am showing my potential, I am doing my best with AlphaTauri and I think that what we are doing right now is very good for the team, », he says. « I really hope that this year we can achieve the best result in the constructor’s championship for the team, which would be the best ranking (currently 5th) since the team joined Formula 1. »
« It’s my personal goal (the constructor championship) and then yes, we will see in the future what are the most attractive options that we have. Ultimately, the decision lies with Red Bull and we need to discuss with them what we are going to do together. »
The Frenchman points out that his future is still not determined, that it depends on Red Bull, and that he will discuss it soon with Helmut Marko.
« To be honest, I have no idea at the moment, it’s something we will discuss with Red Bull and with Helmut (Marko) in particular,” he said. « I don’t know what Helmut’s intention is, whether they want to take me back or if they want me to stay at AlphaTauri, or if they are willing to release me to join another team,” he concluded.
