For the second time in less than two months, heavy rains have fallen on the south of Belgium. At the beginning of June, the bad weather had damaged the runway, some access tunnels were also impassable.

Last night, the rain intensified and once again caused damage, less significant than in June, at the Ardennes circuit. In a statement, the circuit teams revealed that the Blanchimont road, giving access to the paddocks, has partially collapsed. The Ster and Blanchimont tunnels are impassable.

The circuit teams have specified that the track has not been affected, but that the condition of the circuit and the related facilities do not allow to organize the trackday event today.

« The track itself has not been impacted, but its surroundings do not allow for today’s trackday to take place in the necessary safety conditions for motor sports activities: trees threatening to fall, safety fences to replace, and digital safety infrastructure of the track to be restored. It has been decided, in agreement with its client of the day, to interrupt the activities of the Circuit on this Thursday in order to ensure the safety of everyone and to restore the infrastructure as soon as possible. In addition, the services of the Province have requested the release of emergency services to provide assistance to the population. », it is indicated.

« The teams of the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit are already hard at work to resume activities from this weekend, and to meet all the necessary safety conditions for the Circuit’s clients.
