Author of a solid race, Charles Leclerc was rewarded with the title of Driver of the Day, after his podium at the British Grand Prix.

He was so close to the goal! This Sunday, Charles Leclerc came very close to a feat. The Monegasque led 49 of the 52 laps of the British Grand Prix and came very close to victory, which would have been his first since Monza 2019.
The Ferrari driver surged from the starting grid to overtake Valterri Bottas and took advantage of the incident between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton to take the lead of the race from the first lap. During the second start, Leclerc managed his start perfectly to not be worried by the Mercedes #44.
The Monegasque created a gap of 2 seconds on Hamilton until the 15th lap where all the tifosi held their breath. During a few laps, Leclerc complained on the radio about engine cutouts, which allowed Hamilton to get closer. However, these did not last and he was able to keep his first place.
With the penalty imposed on Lewis Hamilton, the Ferrari driver could lead comfortably without being worried. However, in the last 15 laps, a determined Briton to triumph at home and driven by 140,000 fans accelerated and was catching up at a rate of one second per lap.
Hamilton quickly returned in the exhausts of the SF21, he boldly overtook the driver of the Scuderia three laps from the end in Copse, the turn where the incident with Verstappen occurred.
Even if he finished in second place, Charles Leclerc’s performance did not go unnoticed and convinced the F1 community, who named him driver of the day.
