Andreas Seidl thinks Lando Norris can finish 3rd in the championship

After 10 races, the British driver holds the third place in the driver standings, a position that Lando Norris could keep, but will be tough to chase against Bottas and Perez.

Last weekend, Lando Norris took advantage of Sergio Perez’s poor race to reclaim third place in the driver’s championship. The Briton, with exemplary consistency, is the only driver to have scored points in every race this season. Indeed, in the British Grand Prix, he finished in the points zone for the 15th consecutive time, an achievement that no McLaren driver had managed to achieve before.

His performances impress his boss, Andreas Seidl, who thinks that Norris could be able to keep this third place in the standings until the end of the season. However, the German is aware that it will be difficult to maintain it, but he has full confidence in the abilities of his driver who has a good car at his disposal.

Thanks to Lando’s strong performance, along with the competitive team and car we have this year, after 10 races we have managed to be in third place, it is not unrealistic to stay there,” says the McLaren team principal.

Let’s see what we can do in the second half of the season. It’s difficult to say if it’s a realistic goal, because Red Bull and Mercedes are clearly better cars. Valtteri (Bottas) and Checo (Perez) have shown some great races this year and in the past.

« Moreover, we also need to be honest, we need a moment where something goes wrong on the Red Bull or Mercedes side, because we are not able to beat them on pure performance, admits.

With a very good start to the season from its two drivers, McLaren is in third place in the constructor championship, but sees Ferrari getting closer little by little.
