New seat for Schumacher in Hungary

The young German of the American team was complaining about a bad position in his single-seater. He should regain a better posture starting this weekend.

During the French Grand Prix, Mick Schumacher invited Sebastian Vettel to inspect his car after the race. A few days later, the son of the seven-time world champion revealed that he had asked his compatriot to inspect the seat of his car because it did not suit his physique and he had to sit sideways. These statements were confirmed by his mother to Haas team principal, Günther Steiner.

The #47 had declared during the press conference of the Styrian GP that the seat was in the central position, but that his back wasn’t straight, which forced him to sit sideways.

« Basically, I have been sitting in a slanted position since the beginning of the season simply because the seat is too central but my back is not straight.

Even if Schumi Junior admitted that his position did not affect his performance, he was in a rather uncomfortable situation. The problem should be resolved this weekend, as Haas will provide a new seat for its driver.

During the British GP, the director of the American team had declared to our colleagues at Motorsport.com that Schumacher’s new seat should be ready for Hungary.

« We hope it will not be askew, [with] the next one! So, yes, I talked to Mick when we were at the factory on Thursday [before Silverstone]. And we laughed a bit about it, because the seat was so crooked, so he said we were going to make a seat… or that we were going to try to make a straight seat! Because we don’t know yet if we will succeed! »

« Of course, he will be ready for Hungary. If we do it on Monday, he will be operational. But, whether it will be crooked or not, I don’t know. The plan is to have a straight seat in Hungary. »
