This year, the title of world champion is being played between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. The two men dominate the debates. However, during the British GP, they clashed. After the race, the celebrations of the British and the attacks from the Red Bull camp added fuel to the fire.

Interviewed about the clash between the two drivers, Nico Rosberg believes that the two men have been overtaken by the generational rivalry that is developing between them. The 2016 world champion even believes that other clashes will occur in the future.

« Well, it is not 100% obvious. It was a tight battle in every corner after the start, and then, it was just a little overtaken and they touched each other, », he said on Sky Sports F1.

That’s why there are also different opinions, and I also like to call it a racing incident. Of course, one can blame one a little more than the other, but in the end, it’s a battle of generations; the two won’t even leave each other by an inch, and we’ve already seen it in previous races.

« I mean this isn’t the first time they’ve had contact, they’ve already had contact in Imola, and we’re going to see more, I’m sure of that. And it’s this generational battle, the best guy of the last generation or even of the moment and the best guy of the next generation. It really reminds me of Senna-Schumacher, Schumacher-Alonso, Alonso… Vettel perhaps? »

Nico Rosberg does not overlook an already palpable tension between the two men since the start of the season. A tension that could continue until the end of the season.

His title [in Hamilton] is slipping away little by little because Max just had a faster car and was faster. But in my opinion, he wasn’t thinking about it too much. It was just: ‘I want to win Silverstone… that’s my race’. Both will maintain their level of aggressiveness throughout the season and will not give in.
