The story is far from over after the accident between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. Since the collision between the two men, Toto Wolff, Christian Horner, and Helmut Marko have not stopped making headlines with their comments on the incident.

As the British driver was given a 10-second penalty for being deemed responsible for the accident, this was not enough for the Red Bull team. The head of the young driver program of the Austrian team, Helmut Marko, had stated that this maneuver deserved a suspension. A few days later, the former driver even admitted that they (Red Bull) had hired a lawyer to try to increase the penalty.

« The lawyer must examine what is possible in such a situation, within the framework of existing sports laws. We cannot let this go. It’s truly fortunate that nothing serious happened to Max, he told the Kronen Zeitung newspaper.

« The car and probably the engine are good for the scrapyard. A racing suspension would be more fair. It was a reckless act on his part. Hamilton must know what the consequences are, the penalty must be harsher.

This Thursday, the penalty imposed on Hamilton could be increased. In an official document published by the FIA, it is learned that Red Bull has requested a review. This request has been approved by the body overseeing F1. The press release indicates that « in accordance with Article 14 of the International Sporting Code, and following the review request submitted by Red Bull Racing Honda on July 23, 2021, the witnesses […] are required to appear by videoconference on Thursday, July 29, 2021. »

The Austrian team stated that three people from Red Bull, including Christian Horner, will be able to attend. Mercedes is required to send at least one person to this meeting, and like the team based in Milton Keynes, two other people will be able to join the meeting.
