Verstappen spent 24 hours in the simulator to reassure himself physically
After his accident at Silverstone, Max Verstappen is eager to get back on the track and feels physically ready. The Dutchman will do everything possible to win in Hungary.

As the last Grand Prix before the summer break approaches, Max Verstappen is determined to take his revenge against Lewis Hamilton. While the two men collided at Silverstone, the Red Bull driver was forced to retire after a crash that measured 51G, which left his car in a wrecked state.
With 25 points lost against his rival in the championship, the Dutchman’s only goal is victory. In order to reassure himself about his physical condition after his violent crash, Verstappen has been doing multiple simulator sessions.
« I am happy to get back on track in Hungary this weekend, especially after the result of the last race. I am a bit bruised, of course, but it is normal after such an impact. However, I am training and feeling good. I did a 24-hour race simulation this week and it was a good test to see how my body would react to sitting in the same position and behind screens for a long period: I felt perfectly fine, which makes me positive ahead of the weekend. I am clearly ready to resume! », he declared.
After his accident with Lewis Hamilton, Verstappen had called his rival’s celebrations on Instagram unsportsmanlike and disrespectful, but had not spoken to the media. The Dutchman said he had nothing more to add on the incident and wants to focus on this weekend’s race.
« I don’t have much to say about all the media hype and, to be honest, being involved in all of this doesn’t interest me. I know what happened at Silverstone because I was in the car and I have some feelings about how my race ended. But now, I’m simply focusing on how to make sure that we are the best we can be on track, so we can stay ahead in the championship. », he explains.
« The team can take care of the official side of things and anything that needs to be examined after the accident, but my job is the same as always: to be the best possible and try to win on Sunday. I love the Hungarian circuit and I hope there will be a little less action before the grid formation, as the mechanics performed a kind of miracle to repair my car for the race last year! »
With his championship lead reduced to just 8 points, Max Verstappen is not certain to go on vacation as the leader. The Hungaroring is a circuit where Lewis Hamilton is very strong as he holds the record for victories (8), but the Dutchman is a serious contender for victory as in 2019, he obtained his first pole position on this circuit and this season, he has always finished on the podium (excluding retirements).
