Robert Kubica at the wheel of the Alfa Romeo during Free Practice 1
The Polish driver will take Kimi Räikkönen's place during the first free practice session of the Hungarian Grand Prix.

This Friday, Robert Kubica will take the wheel of Kimi Räikkönen’s Alfa Romeo during the first free practice session. This weekend will be special for the driver, as he will be the center of attention for many fans. The Hungaroring is a popular destination for many Poles to come and watch the Grand Prix. The winner of the 2008 Canadian GP will then hit the track in front of his home crowd.
On this occasion, Fred Vasseur’s team will have a stand in the Fan Zone, where it will be possible to admire the single-seater as well as some racing equipment. Alfa Romeo’s statement also specifies that fans will also be able to participate in competitions to win exclusive items from Robert Kubica and the team throughout the weekend.
Robert Kubica is looking forward to hitting the track in front of the Polish flags that will be waved by his fellow countrymen and says he will do the best possible job for his team.
It’s always great to be back in the car, especially in Budapest, which is the closest race to Poland on the calendar. There are always a lot of Polish fans in the stands and I know there will be plenty of flags to greet me when I come out of the garage on Friday.
« Of course, once in the car, the goal is to do the best possible job for the team and to assist our engineers with the car’s settings. The margins are very small in the midfield. So every improvement can be crucial, he said.
After taking to the track during the Spanish Grand Prix and the Austrian Grand Prix, Robert Kubica will participate in his third free practice session this Friday.
