5,645 COVID-19 screening tests, 8 people tested positive in Hungary
5,645 COVID-19 screening tests were conducted for the Hungarian Grand Prix week. 8 people tested positive.

As for each Grand Prix, the FIA communicates the figures related to COVID-19. While the pandemic is gaining importance in some countries, it is important for the FIA and F1 to be transparent. Between Monday, July 26 and Sunday, August 1 in Hungary, there were 5,645 screening tests conducted on drivers, teams, and personnel. However, 8 people tested positive.
Like the rest of the world, there seems to be a rise in positive cases in recent weeks. At Silverstone, 9 people tested positive out of 5,496 tests. Whereas at the Austrian Grand Prix, only one person tested positive out of 6,097 tests. This is one less than during the week in France. The holidays are coming at the right time for the FIA, which will be able to monitor the progression of the pandemic.
It should be noted that FIA personnel, F1 staff, and journalists undergo testing at least every five days to be present at a Grand Prix. A driver who tests positive cannot participate in a race, as was the case with Lewis Hamilton last year when he did not take part in the race at the Sakhir circuit. The Mercedes driver gave up his seat to George Russell.
