Green light for fans for the Dutch Grand Prix
For the return of the Dutch Grand Prix, 70,000 spectators per day will be able to access the Zandvoort circuit.

This year, Formula 1 will return to the Zandvoort circuit, 36 years after the last race, won by Niki Lauda. The Dutch Grand Prix was supposed to make its comeback last year, but the health situation forced the organizers to cancel the event.
In 2021, history will not repeat itself and the Grand Prix has indeed been confirmed. However, there is a small problem, as the organizers were hoping to sell 105,000 tickets and thus have a sold-out race, but the health situation forced them to reconsider their plans. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only 70,000 spectators per day will be allowed inside the circuit.
The organizers had declared that the Grand Prix had to take place in front of full stands in order to obtain sufficient revenue, which had justified the cancellation of last year’s event. Despite a 67% capacity limit, the GP director, Jan Lammers, said he was happy that the event would take place this year: « For me, the glass is two-thirds full. We will do it.” The three companies behind the Dutch Grand Prix – Circuit Zandvoort, SportVibes, and TIG Sports – have decided to invest in the future of F1 in the Netherlands. Our main goal for the years to come is to believe in our ambition to organize the biggest festival of the best races in the world. This year, it will be in a slightly more modest format, but nevertheless, the fight for the world title will take place with a great orange atmosphere in the stands,” he said.
This year, the Dutch Grand Prix is expected to be one of the must-see events. With the rivalry between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, who will be competing at home, the atmosphere should be electric for the event’s big comeback.
