Lando Norris may have some regrets. While he was having an exceptional weekend, especially during the wet track qualifications, the Briton violently hits the wall in Eau Rouge during Q3. Fortunately for him, the driver walks away unscathed.

After his medical examination, Norris was allowed to race. He was supposed to start in 15th place after a gearbox change following his accident. But the driver was never able to get better placements considering the conditions and the red flag.

We are race car drivers. We want to go out and race, it’s not like we just want to take a day off, especially me. I wanted to try and catch up on Saturday. So I really wanted to go out and have fun, make overtakes and put on a good show. But we also know when it’s dangerous to go out and drive.

If the Briton is disappointed with the final result, he nevertheless understands the decision not to resume the race. The conditions were not suitable for everyone’s safety.

From the outside, it doesn’t look so bad sometimes, but inside the car, it’s different. If there was a car facing the wrong way on the straight line or just stopped, you wouldn’t see it until you were five meters away. You can’t even see those flashing lights or anything. It’s so hard to describe how bad it is.

Despite not scoring any points, the McLaren driver remains third in the championship ahead of Valtteri Bottas, who also did not score any points. Nevertheless, he is thinking of the fans who traveled in the pouring rain to wait for the start of the race for long hours.

We could still have had a good chance to score at least some points. Maybe not to fight for first place, but it’s a shame for me, a shame for all the fans, and all those who came to see the race, as they couldn’t see much.
