Pirelli will bring its hardest range to Zandvoort

For the grand return of the Dutch Grand Prix, the Italian manufacturer will provide its C1, C2, and C3 tires to the drivers. Pirelli expects a race where the tires will be extremely solicited, due to the fast corners of the track.

This year, the Zandvoort circuit returns to the calendar, 36 years after leaving it. Considered as an old-school track, Pirelli expects a challenging race due to certain turns, where the tires will be put to the test. In addition, Pirelli cannot rely on relevant data, for these reasons, the Italian manufacturer will provide drivers with its softest range of tires.

To establish their tire choice for this weekend, Pirelli relied on the data provided by the teams as well as the information collected following the GT World Challenge.

The Netherlands Grand Prix is obviously a new challenge, but thanks to the data provided by Formula 1 and the teams, we were able to propose a tire nomination and prescriptions that closely match what we can expect from this exciting new venue, says Mario Isola, Pirelli’s F1 chief.

« Being a new track, the practice sessions will also be essential when it comes to collecting real data and formulating the tire strategy for the race. One thing is certain, the layout of the circuit will heavily impact the tires, as shown by the computer simulations we have already conducted. We have already raced at Zandvoort in the GT World Challenge this year, and that too has provided us with useful information. »
