Williams and Alfa Romeo are positioning themselves for Albon
Alex Albon could find a seat in 2022. Williams and Alfa Romeo are interested in the young Red Bull reserve driver.

Replaced by Sergio Perez at the end of a difficult season, Alex Albon has since been on the sidelines as the reserve driver for Red Bull. The Thai driver was patiently waiting to see if he could regain his place, but Perez has renewed his contract for one more year with the Austrian team. He couldn’t join AlphaTauri, the secondary team of the energy drink brand. Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda are assured of keeping their seats.
Albon could however bounce back in another team in F1. Christian Horner, the team principal of Red Bull, revealed that efforts were being made to find a seat for Albon for next year. Williams and Alfa Romeo, which are losing one of their drivers, have shown interest. He said he wanted to do everything possible to get his driver back on the grid. However, Horner rules out any return to AlphaTauri.
Williams and Alfa Romeo both expressed their interest. We are looking forward to seeing him back in Formula 1. I hope this can be resolved in the coming days. He is a talented driver. Red Bull will do everything possible to ensure he returns to a seat in F1.
Is Nyck de Vries on the list?
The discussions have already started a few days ago. If everything is going well at the moment, he hopes that it will be resolved in the next few days. But Albon’s future seems to be linked to the placement of the Formula E champion, Nyck de Vries. Mercedes is looking to secure him a place in F1 next year. Toto Wolff has also announced that the Red Bull substitute driver equally deserves a seat and that he would not block his return to the race.
« Alex Albon deserves a seat and he’s a very good boy. Nyck has a guaranteed spot in Formula E with us. I wish he was in Formula 1, but I don’t want to lose him for our Formula E campaign.
