Sergio Perez elected driver of the day in the Netherlands
The Mexican driver was awarded the honorary title of driver of the day after his impressive comeback during the race. Starting from the pit lane, Max Verstappen's teammate finished in 8th place.

Sergio Perez had a very good race this Sunday. Starting from the pit lane due to an engine and gearbox change, the Mexican made a lot of overtakes, including some very aggressive ones, to finally finish 8th.
The Red Bull driver attacked very early in the race to get the better of the Haas drivers, but a wheel lock prevented him from fully exploiting his hard tires. The Mexican had to go through the pit lane to put on mediums and continue his incredible comeback.
His end of the race was just as eventful with a collision in the first turn with Lando Norris. As he tried to overtake the British driver on the outside, the two men made contact, partially damaging the floor of the RB16B. Nevertheless, this incident did not disturb Perez who, a few laps later, managed to snatch the 8th position from Esteban Ocon.
With this Top 10, Sergio Perez scores points for the first time since the Austrian Grand Prix.
