OFFICIAL: George Russell will be at Mercedes in 2022
After Valtteri Bottas' confirmation at Alfa Romeo, it's now Mercedes' turn to finalize their 2022 line-up. Russell will drive for the Mercedes team.

After 5 seasons of good and loyal services, Bottas was preferred over the young Briton in the official Mercedes team. It must be said that the Finn has never managed to reach the level of his teammate Lewis Hamilton, who has won 6 titles since 2014, sometimes without dispute. The Finn will therefore replace Räikkönen at Alfa Romeo.
George Russell, for his part, has only provided a plethora of arguments throughout his young career to justify this promotion within the parent company. Remember that he has been part of the Mercedes program since his early single-seater days. His time at Williams has been a real Via Dolorosa until this year. No points in 2019, nor in 2020.
Everyone remembers his stint at Mercedes last year in Sakhir. Victory seemed assured to him, especially with a magnificent overtake on Bottas, before the team got tangled up in the strategy.
Lewis Hamilton will welcome not only a compatriot, but also a driver certainly less gentle than Bottas. Let’s bet that, not just one, but two Mercedes will be fighting for the title next year. A new internal duel on the horizon?
