Hamilton: “Bottas is the best teammate I’ve ever had”
Bottas leaves Mercedes to join Alfa Romeo in 2022. On social media, Hamilton wanted to pay tribute to his teammate. He stated that the Finn was his best teammate since he started in F1.

After five seasons, Valtteri Bottas leaves Mercedes to join Alfa Romeo in 2022. Upon announcing his departure, Lewis Hamilton paid tribute to his former future teammate on social media.
Some departures are sadder than others. Bottas had joined Mercedes starting from the 2017 season to replace Nico Rosberg, who had just won a title over Hamilton. With the Briton, Bottas helped the team win four consecutive constructors’ championships. On social media, the seven-time world champion declared that the Finn was his best teammate since his debut in F1.
» I am extremely proud to have worked alongside Valtteri over the past five years. Together, we have been part of a team that has won four constructors’ championships, and we have motivated each other to keep going through the highs and lows. He has been the best teammate I have had the pleasure of working with. Your speed and resilience have been impressive, but where you really stand out is the human being that you are and a gentleman.
Thank you Lewis 🤜🤛

The two drivers have scored 2,976.5 points for Mercedes since 2017. The team is currently leading the championship with 344.5 points against Red Bull and its 332.5 points. It would be a beautiful story if Hamilton and Bottas ended their partnership by winning an eighth championship for the team.
« You are taller than you think and I know there is a bright future ahead of you. Thank you Valtteri for all your support and incredible contributions to this team. You will be missed. I wish you all the best for your future projects, let’s finish strong and get this 8th championship for the team.
