Italian Grand Prix – Norris: « I’m happy for Daniel even though he finished ahead of me »
Lando Norris has once again delivered a superb performance by placing his McLaren on the podium this season.

Monza was a classic weekend for Lando Norris. Qualifying in the Top 5 on Friday afternoon, then 3rd in the sprint race, the British driver made the most of the equipment at his disposal.
During his first stint, Lando Norris manages to keep Lewis Hamilton behind him, greatly assisting his teammate in holding onto the lead of the Grand Prix.
Thanks to a better pit stop managed than the two title rivals, he found himself in second position: « First of all, I want to thank all the fans for this incredible weekend. When I joined the team, we were working for this kind of results and today we made the 1-2. I’m happy for Daniel even though he finished ahead of me. »
Indeed, he tried to influence his team by repeatedly stating that he was faster than his teammate and was under threat from Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas. However, the McLaren team leaders were careful not to swap positions on the track, which would have been particularly unfair given the events of the weekend and the race. They thus indicated to him: « For us, it’s better if you stay as you are. »
During the question-and-answer game on the way down from the car, he slipped like this: « I am with the team for a long time. I will have other opportunities. »
