Aston Martin confirms Vettel and Stroll for 2022
The pair of Aston Martin will not change. The English team confirms Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll for 2022. The drivers' good results reassured the team.

There was a doubt at Aston Martin. Now the veil is finally lifted. Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll will stay in the English team in 2022. A duo that mixes experience and youth and brings good results to the team.
While Stroll has been with the team for a few years, Vettel is having his first season with Aston Martin after a mixed experience at Ferrari. The future was uncertain for the German driver. The four-time champion, who clinched the team’s first podium in Baku, has pleased his team. He will continue his journey alongside Stroll, as Formula 1 is about to enter a new era.
In a press release, the two drivers expressed their happiness at staying in the team. Starting with Vettel who says he is looking forward to driving the new generation of F1 cars.
I am really excited to drive the new generation of Formula 1 cars. Their look is very different and the new technical regulations should give us cars that can race much closer. The races will be exciting and great for the drivers, as well as the fans. The changes are so significant that the teams will start from scratch. So it will be a great opportunity for us at Aston Martin. I believe in the strength of our new and growing team.
On Stroll’s side, satisfaction is shared. The Canadian will be driving in his sixth year in F1 and says he is ready to take on new challenges in 2022.
« Next season, I will start my sixth year in F1. I will be alongside my teammate Sebastian and I am very excited to continue the journey with him. We did not achieve what we had planned to do this year, but it has only amplified our hunger and our desire to succeed next season.
In his contract, Vettel had signed for one year with an option for an additional year if Aston Martin was happy with the performance of their new driver. The team therefore decided to keep the German. Otmar Szafnauer, the team principal, had a few words for both of his drivers and is looking forward to 2022.
« Lance is one of the most talented drivers in modern F1. And to this raw talent, he now adds a serious racing talent. Four-time world champion, having driven in 271 Grand Prix, of which he has won 53, Sebastian is also a significant asset to our team, and next year, we expect them to perform well in a very different car from the current one. We never underestimate our competition, so we do not intend to make too many promises, but we know that Lance and Sebastian will make the best of the tools we provide them with.
The season is not over yet. Aston Martin is lagging far behind its direct competitors in the constructors’ standings. The goal at the beginning of the season to be at the same level as the previous year, or even better, is far from being achieved for the English team.
