Fernando Alonso summoned by the stewards
The Spaniard is suspected of not having slowed down enough in an area where the yellow flag was waved during qualifying. The Alpine driver could lose his 5th place on the starting grid.
After a successful qualifying session, with the 6th fastest time, Fernando Alonso will start tomorrow from 5th place on the grid after Lewis Hamilton’s penalty. However, the Spaniard is not certain to start from this position as he has been called before the stewards following the qualifying session.
The Alpine driver is accused of not having slowed down enough when he entered an area marked by a double yellow flag during the first qualifying session. If it is proven that Alonso did not slow down, he could lose his 5th place.
According to the stewards’ decision, the double world champion could receive a grid penalty of 3 places, or even 5, depending on the circumstances.
Fernando Alonso is expected at 5:15 pm in the stewards’ office.
