6th during Friday’s qualifying session, then 7th during the sprint race, the Monegasque driver was beaten both times by his garage neighbor. Charles Leclerc was determined to change that during the Sunday race.

It’s a lightning start from 6th position that allowed him to immediately catch up with Carlos Sainz. The two Scuderia men were facing each other relatively aggressively at the entrance of the fourth turn. A battle that turned in favor of Charles Leclerc. A duel that was reminiscent of the one between Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc in 2019 which resulted in a collision between them.

During the safety car restart caused by debris on the track from an accident involving Yuki Tsunoda and Lance Stroll, Charles Leclerc briefly threatened Valtteri Bottas’ Mercedes, but the red car was not fast enough to intimidate the Silver Arrows.

Stopping twice during the race, Charles Leclerc, like in Mexico last weekend, delivered a flawless and anonymous race that ended with a very good 5th position.

« It was a tough weekend honestly. Historically, Mexico and Brazil have been difficult tracks for me, so getting 5th places in both races was the best results we could achieve. We are really doing a good job as a team and it’s nice to see »

With Carlos Sainz in 6th and Charles Leclerc in 5th, it is a new very beautiful group shot from Ferrari, which is gradually asserting itself as the third force on this Formula 1 grid.
