McLaren denies being bought out by Audi
The likely arrival of Volkswagen in F1 is fueling many rumors. Among them, the one of Audi acquiring McLaren, the British team quickly dismissing it.

The 2021 season is definitely full of activity, both on and off the track.
Audi and Porsche are preparing to enter Formula 1, but no one knows what form their commitment will take: two factory teams? Each as an engine supplier? Buying a team? The last option seemed the most likely for Audi, which would have set its sights on McLaren.
The British structure, however, does not see it that way: in a statement, the Woking team asserts that it will not become the property of the Stuttgart manufacturer.
McLaren’s strategy has always been oriented towards discussions and collaboration with new partners. There is no change in the leadership structure of the McLaren group.
The announcements regarding the arrivals of Porsche and Audi in 2026 are expected to be made in early December. Their commitment choices will thus be definitively known.
