Qatar Grand Prix – Hamilton: “Two incredible weeks”
The British driver's victory at the Losail circuit allows him to get even closer to championship leader Max Verstappen.

Sir Lewis Hamilton dominated the first Grand Prix of Qatar in the history of Formula 1 from start to finish: pole position, victory and leading all 57 laps (only missing out on the fastest lap of the race).
He was never really worried by his championship rival Max Verstappen (who still holds the lead in the driver’s championship) and was able to secure his 102nd career victory.
« These last two weeks have been fantastic, incredible. But we don’t have time to celebrate (these two victories): I will already be back at the Brackley factory next week and back to training tomorrow in order to stay in the same dynamic and keep a cool head. So I don’t really have any emotions other than determination. »
It is really great to have been able to regain so many points (on Verstappen) in the last two Grand Prix, it was important. (Red Bull) are still very fast as you can see today with their best lap in the race and both their cars have overtaken everyone very easily. So this means we still have work to do. Also, what happened to Valtteri (Bottas) is really unfortunate. »
“We have our work cut out.” Lewis Hamilton
« I love tight fight (with Max Verstappen) and the constraints it imposes on you and the whole team. I really loved that, but we have to be even more efficient for the next two Grand Prix races, so we will step up our game for these two races. »
With only two Grand Prix races left in this 2021 season, the seven-time world champion is now only 8 points behind the Red Bull driver.
