Mazepin’s father aims higher
After a difficult first season as title sponsor for the Haas team, Nikita Mazepin's father is not giving up on the idea of owning an F1 team in the future.

Dmitry Mazepin is a businessman with an estimated fortune of nearly 1.8 billion dollars. His son, Nikita Mazepin, made his debut in Formula 1 this year with Haas, the team sponsored by his father. A very difficult season for Haas, which is consistently at the back of the grid and has not yet scored a single point so far.
Despite this, Mazepin did not resign himself to owning an F1 team one day, he who already owns the Hitech team in F4, F3, and F2.
These are our long-term plans – we want to expand our presence in Formula 1. We are represented in Formula 4, Formula 3, and Formula 2, and ideally the crown should be a Formula 1 team and we want to be its owner, declares Dmitry Mazepin.
He has already tried in the past to acquire an F1 team with the fall of Force India in 2018. Unfortunately for him, it was Lawrence Stroll and his $2.7 billion fortune who bought the team. The Russian confirms, however, that no negotiation for a possible acquisition is currently underway, whether with Haas or another team.
« For the moment, we are not negotiating with anyone, because everyone is waiting for the cards to be revealed in 2022. If some small teams suddenly succeed, then the cost and attractiveness will be different,” Mazepin told the Russian channel Match TV.
