At 75, Jean Todt will step down from the presidency of the FIA, but he has not yet announced what his future will be. Indeed, retirement does not seem to be his priority, as the Frenchman is currently in discussions with Ferrari President John Elkann.

This information was revealed by the Italian newspaper “Corriere della Serra”. Todt and Elkann would be discussing a return of the Frenchman to Ferrari since the 24 Hours of Le Mans last August. The story between Jean Todt and Ferrari began in 1993, the Frenchman was the team manager of the Italian team and won 6 constructors’ championships from 1999 to 2004. During this period of Ferrari’s dominance, Michael Schumacher also won the F1 world championship title 5 times in a row with Ferrari.

A golden period for Ferrari under the leadership of Jean Todt. He left the team in 2008 to join the FIA. The Frenchman’s return would be in the role of special advisor to Ferrari, similar to Niki Lauda’s role at Mercedes a few years ago.

While all this is still just rumors, Jean Todt’s succession to the presidency of the FIA will indeed take place on December 17. The two candidates for his succession are Graham Stoker, delegated president for sports at the FIA under Jean Todt, and Mohammed Ben Sulayem, vice president of the FIA in charge of sports for the Middle East region.
