Mercedes ready to give up the appeal?
It is right after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that the off-track legal battle has begun. A battle that, for now, is being lost by Mercedes.

Mercedes lodged two complaints with the FIA last night while Verstappen was celebrating his Formula 1 world championship title. However, both of these protests were rejected by the FIA, leaving Mercedes to consider the final option available to them, which is to appeal the decision.
A choice that seemed to have been made yesterday evening by Mercedes. Once the two protests were rejected by the FIA, the team communicated on its social media its intention to appeal this decision. For this, the German team has 72 hours to put together a case with evidence in order to initiate a new investigation.
But according to The Times, Mercedes is casting much more doubt on the decision to appeal the FIA’s ruling. These doubts are justified by a fear of seeing Mercedes and its reputation plummet, especially since the team has been under heavy criticism since it announced its intention to appeal on social media.
According to The Times, Mercedes has apparently made its choice and has resigned itself to the impossibility of changing the outcome. An official response from Mercedes regarding this whole story is expected in the coming days.
