Will he leave or not? Lewis Hamilton certainly experienced the biggest disappointment of his career last Sunday in Abu Dhabi. Losing his potential 8th championship title in the last lap undoubtedly knocked out the newly knighted English driver.

Toto Wolff himself ensures that he speaks to Lewis every day to prevent his departure […] because he is the greatest driver of all time.

Although this scenario is highly unlikely, the ending of the 2021 season continues to generate discussion. Mercedes has withdrawn their appeal, but the German team and Hamilton did not attend the FIA awards ceremony. Some are speculating about a possible retirement of the seven-time world champion, similar to his former teammate Nico Rosberg, who exited on a high note after his 2016 title.

Hamilton leaving, it would be an incredibly appealing spot for all drivers on the grid. Several names would be circulating in this scenario. Among them: Charles Leclerc!

The Monegasque driver seems to have a clear future with the Scuderia Ferrari, as he has taken on the role of leader since 2020.

He gets along very well with Carlos Sainz, Mattia Binotto always trusts him, and a contract extension until 2026 is not to be excluded. Leclerc is currently linked to Ferrari until 2024.

But there is an exit clause for No. 16. In this case, he will be free to terminate his contract with Rossa if they do not finish on the podium of the championship by next year. McLaren came very close to taking away their 3rd place this year!

A Ferrari that is not capable of competing for the win and the title could then push the rare gem of the Italian team to set sail.

Would Hamilton dare to slam the door of the ultimate category? Is Charles Leclerc waiting for any opportunity to arise?

The 2021 season has just ended, 2022 has not yet begun…and still so many unanswered questions! To be continued…
