The Mercedes of revenge reveals itself
This Friday, February 18th, the Mercedes W13 was unveiled. It will be the weapon of reconquest for Lewis Hamilton and the one of confirmation for George Russell.
Mercedes won their eighth constructor’s title in 2021 but lost the eighth driver’s title to Max Verstappen.
On Friday, February 18th, the W13 E Performance was unveiled to the public. The rising star George Russell has been promoted to the German team and will have to prove his talent. He will be accompanied by his English compatriot Lewis Hamilton behind the wheel of the second Mercedes.
The car has regained its legendary silver color, after being dressed in black for two seasons.
The Ineos partner takes up a little more space on the bodywork, especially behind the rear wing: it is adorned in red, just like the top of the roll bar.
On the aerodynamic side, the W13 is very streamlined. There are no aggressive and hollowed side pods like on the Ferrari, which was presented yesterday.
The snout is relatively narrow, but quite rounded at its tip. It also extends down to the last panel of the front fin, suggesting a longer wheelbase.
For 2022, the motto will be revenge: we will have to launch ourselves once again into the pursuit of the drivers’ championship title, snatched away at the last moment last year by Max Verstappen.
