Negotiations underway for Sainz at Ferrari
The Madrid-born Ferrari driver, Carlos Sainz, revealed during the presentation of the Ferrari that negotiations were underway. They concern his extension with the Scuderia beyond 2022.
“I come to announce that there is nothing to announce,” joked Carlos Sainz when the curtain was lifted on the F1-75.
Number 55 joined Ferrari last season, alongside Charles Leclerc. Four podiums and a fifth-place finish in the final drivers’ standings: his place in the Rossa was well established!
When asked about his situation within the team, Carlos Sainz affirmed that everything was going in the right direction.
We are currently at the heart of the discussions. Whether it’s for Ferrari or for me, things are pretty clear: we are happy with the current situation and we intend to work together in the future.
A duo unchanged until 2025?
Charles Leclerc, for his part, is Ferrari’s darling child. Proof of this is that his contract with the Scuderia is three years away from its end (he had signed until 2025).
According to Carlos Sainz, for Ferrari, the year 2022 and its technical revolution can be an opportunity to return to the top of the standings. He believes that the idyll between him and his team must continue.
To fight for victory and the championship has always been my dream. I don’t think I’ve had this opportunity and I want to be able to do it. Perhaps we could have won in Monaco from pole position last year.
The upcoming season must be a confirmation for Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard, after his fantastic 2021 season, has everything to consider the long term with the red team.
