Aston Martin could develop its own engine in 2026
Aston Martin could take advantage of the new engine regulations in 2026 to develop its own power unit, as hinted by the team's technical director, Andrew Green.

Aston Martin could develop its own engine. This is what its technical director, Andrew Green, hinted at in an interview with the official Formula 1 website. « I believe that with our ambitions, we are definitely looking at our engine supply in the long term. In 2026, there will be a new regulation on engines, and I think that as a team, we would really like to get involved. »
« We now have Aramco as a sponsor and I think we will be talking about it in the coming years… We’ll see. What is certain is that we will all examine the details to see if there is an advantage to taking this direction. » continued Andrew Green.
Aston Martin is currently equipped with a Mercedes engine, as well as a gearbox and rear suspensions provided by the eight-time reigning constructors’ team. The team based in Silverstone could thus follow the example of Red Bull. The Austrians embarked on the design of their own power unit this year after Honda’s withdrawal from Formula 1. The engines have not undergone any regulatory changes since 2014 and are subject to a freeze this year.
