The Metaverse makes its way into motor racing, with Romain Grosjean
This is a new path opening in the world of virtual reality: auto racing competition is invited to make its debut in the Metaverse with GP Metaverse. It will take place on March 19th, with Romain Grosjean as the ambassador.

The world of blockchains and cryptocurrencies is booming. While Williams was the first team to establish a partnership with one of these companies in 2018 with Omnitude, McLaren, Red Bull, AlphaTauri, Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, and even Mercedes quickly reached agreements with companies such as Floki, Vellas, Crypto.com, Binance, Bybit, Fantom, Tezos, and FTX.
This March 19th marks the opening of a new path in the world of virtual reality with the arrival of competition in motorsport, invited to make its debut in the Metaverse with GP Metaverse. On this date, the first 500 models will be sold on OpenSea (an NFT trading platform) at a price of 0.1 ETH (Ethereum).
The next day, Romain Grosjean will officially become the godfather of this NFT collection dedicated to his virtual races. He will present the models and sign autographs.
This Metaverse is based on the Polygon blockchain. The latter is supposed to ensure the best possible energy efficiency. But this universe is in the spotlight. Indeed, at a time when the world is increasingly concerned about the effects of our consumption on the planet, the development of this “virtual world is worrying”. Without going into details, this technology requires a large quantity of powerful PCs, equipped with energy-consuming graphics cards for their usage, and significant resources in components for their creation. It is not apparently an ideal world for the ecological challenges that are currently unfolding, and this industry is highly monitored.
Apart from creating NFTs, developing a virtual community, and participating in online races, the goal of this partnership is to create a young driver academy. By becoming the ambassador of GP Metaverse, the Autosports Andretti driver in Indycar will have his own NFT brand. This will allow him to offer his own Racing Sim sessions for members of the GP Metaverse community.
He declares moreover that GP Metaverse is an exciting NFT project where motor racing, video games, and unique collection models come together. It’s also awesome that I have my own unique car as an NFT.
