Hamilton: « The best result we could have achieved. »
Aware of the current difficulties with his machine, the seven-time world champion was greatly satisfied with this new career podium.

Opportunistic and reliable. That’s how one could summarize the race of the two Mercedes at the Bahrain Grand Prix 2022. Quite far behind their rivals Ferrari and Red Bull in terms of performance, especially in tire management, Mercedes took advantage of Red Bull’s double retirement to once again make it to the podium with Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton: « We know that we have to keep working, keep our head down, and do the best we can »
A result as unexpected as it is enjoyed in the German camp, who knows how crucial the upcoming months will be in their pursuit of the global crown. As he stepped out of the car, Hamilton made a point to congratulate Ferrari for their comeback and to downplay his presence on the podium.
« Congratulations to Ferrari. Happy that they are back and I am happy for Carlos and Charles. It was a very difficult race and this is really the best result we could have achieved. It’s unfortunate for the two Red Bull drivers but we did our best and I am happy with that. » declared Sir Lewis.
The British champion then gave a message of encouragement to his clan in order to motivate them to reclaim their rightful place.
I hope we will improve, the team and I are working very hard. We know that we need to keep working, keep our heads down and do our best.
In the constructors’ standings, Mercedes sits in second place behind Ferrari thanks to Hamilton’s podium finish and George Russell’s fourth-place finish.
